I've decided that the next Monday Major Work title will be The Fundamentals edited by R. A. Torrey (Available from Amazon or free here).
This is a work of great influence launched as an offensive against modernism and partly the origin of what became labelled as Christian Fundamentalism.
The edition we will be reading is not quite the original four volume set, but an edition that is still in print and first published in 1917. The free version I have given a link to is the original version. Torrey writes in his preface about the edition we will be reading: 'All the articles that appeared in Fundamentals, with the exception of a very few that did not seem to be in exact keeping with the original purpose of The Fundamentals, will be published in this series.' So I will make sure to be very specific about each week's reading just in case you are reading the freebie version.
By my calculations we'll best starting it sometime in October 2011.
