An all-round ministry - Spurgeon - XV - Chapter 9 commenced

Required reading
An all-round ministry by CH Spurgeon (Available from Amazon or free here) - Commence Chapter 9 (Stewards) by reading up to the paragraph beginning 'The second part of my address will be occupied with our obligations as stewards.'

My summary
Today Spurgeon teaches us that the minister is a steward and that means he is:
(i) a servant and no more;
(ii) a servant of a peculiar kind;
(iii) a servant under the more immediate command of the great Master;
(iv) constantly giving account;
(v) a trustee of his master's goods;
(vi) dispensing his master's goods according to their design;
(vii) the guardian of his master's family;
(viii) a representative of his master.

What grabbed me
Good point about who is for who: 'Ministers are for churches, and not churches for ministers. In our work among the churches, we must not dare to view them as estates to be farmed for our own profit, or gardens to be trimmed to our own taste.'

We are there for them, not them for us.

Next week's reading
Conclude Chapter 9 (Stewards).
