I've decided that the next Thursday Theology will be Riches increased by giving by Thomas Gouge (Available from Amazon or free here).
In the edition I will be reading from, at the front there are recommendations from John Owen, Thomas Manton and William Bates. Manton writes: 'Thou hast here put into thy hands an exhortation to liberality, a duty so lovely and God-like, that without other arguments it bespeaks its own respect; but the dull heart of man needs to be excited and quickened; we all love a cheap religion, but the costly and expensive duties are too often neglected and declined, therefore the reverend author in this treatise thought fit to recommend the practice of a more liberal and diffusive alms-giving with the more earnestness to well-disposed Christians.'
By my calculations we'll finish our current Tuesday Theology title, 'Charity and its fruits' by Edwards, sometime in October 2011 and so we'll start our new title then.
