Future Friday Focus: Works Vol VII by Thomas Goodwin

I've decided that the next Friday Focus will be Volume VII of the Works of Thomas Goodwin (Available from Reformation Heritage Books or free here).

I've thoroughly enjoyed reading the Sibbes' volumes on Fridays and so I thought it might be good to delve into some other puritan 'Works' volumes.

I chose Volume VII of Goodwin's works because in the book 'Meet the Puritans' by Beeke & Pederson, they recommend every title included in Goodwin's Volume VII.

Volume VII consists of the following titles:
(i) The creatures and the condition of their state by creation (Beeke & Pederson comment: 'Goodwin is more philosophical in this work than in others');
(ii) Gospel holiness in heart and life (Beeke & Pederson comment that this 'is a convicting masterpiece, based on Philippians 1:9-11.  It explains the doctrine of sanctification in every sphere of life');
(iii) The
Blessed State of Glory Which the Saints Possess After Death (based on Revelation 14:13);
(iv)
Sermons entitled Three Several Ages of Christians; Man’s Restoration by Grace; Repentance (Beeke & Pederson comment that these are among Goodwin's greatest sermons and are 'strong, biblical, Christological, and experimental').

Please note that you can purchase the volume as an individual reprint from Amazon or the entire works in paperback from Reformation Heritage Books.  Volume VII is also free
here.

By my calculations we'll finish our current Friday Focus title sometime in December 2011 and so we'll start our new title then.
