Life of Matthew Henry - Williams - XIV - Section III & IV

Required reading
The life of Matthew Henry by J. B. Williams (Available from Amazon or free here) - Read Sections III and IV.

My summary
Today we continue to learn more about Henry's character.

In Section III we hear of his generosity, intercession and relationships with other ministers of the established church.

Then in Section IV we observe more of his humility.

What grabbed me
I always find examples of humility to be most helpful.

This quote of Henry's I can relate to: 'I am come to the close of another year; but my works have not been filled up; there are many empty spaces in my time; and in my duties much amiss; little done; little gained for my soul; though much mercy received, yet my talents have not been traded with aright.  It is the blood of Christ that must set all straight between me and my God.  There I rest my precious soul.'

So often I reflect on how much time I have wasted, yet thankfully my soul's worth is in the blood of Christ.
