My summary
Today's exposition is on "And Reuben answered them, saying, Spake I not unto you, saying, Do not sin against the child; and ye would not hear? therefore, behold, also his blood is required."— Genesis xlii. 22.

Spurgeon teaches us that according to the story of Joseph, there are three ways of sinning against children:
(i) slaying them (which includes morally and spiritually slaying them);
(ii) leaving them and then looking them up in later days to seek and deliver from destruction;
(iii) selling them (e.g. over to secularists; looking only to their worldly interests).

What grabbed me
Spurgeon gave lots of good advice for parents and those working with children.

For example, this advice was given to Sunday school teachers: '"Do not sin against the child "by merely telling him a number of stories without setting forth the Saviour; for that will be giving him a stone instead of bread. "Do not sin against the child" by aiming at anything short of his conversion to God through Jesus Christ the Saviour.'

Our goal should not be children who are good Biblical encyclopedias, we should want children who are saved.
