Ante-Nicene Fathers (Vol 4) (Available from Amazon or free here) - Conclude Origen De Principiis Book III.
My summary
Today Origen gives us his thoughts on a few different doctrines, including:
(i) the opposition of malignant power to divine power;
(ii) the wisdom of the world, the wisdom of the princes of the world and the wisdom of God;
(iii) the human struggle between the sinful nature and the Spirit;
(iv) that the world had a beginning at a certain time;
(v) what will happen at the end of this world.
What grabbed me
I liked Origen's comment on the sovereignty of God: 'And therefore holy Scripture teaches us to receive all that happens as sent by God, knowing that without Him no event occurs.'
Calvinism before Calvin!
