(iv) his resolution to go to Georgia;
(v) his increasing popularity in England;
(vi) his publication of a sermon;
(vii) the reaction to Whitefield in the press;
(viii) the reaction of ministers of the Church of England and Dissenters to Whitefield;
(ix) his extempore prayers;

(xi) his leaving England for Georgia.
What grabbed me
It was terrible to hear the reason for opposition from ministers toward Whitefield: 'Soon after this, two clergymen sent for me, and told me they would not let me preach in their pulpits any more, unless I renounced that part of my sermon on regeneration, wherein I wished, "that my brethren would entertain their auditories oftener with discourses upon the new birth." This I had no freedom to do, and so they continued my opposers.'
To oppose the new birth is Satanic.
Next week's reading
Commence 'A journal of a voyage from London to Savannah in Georgia' Part I by reading up to the paragraph beginning 'Monday, January 23. Was much comforted by receiving five more letters...'
