Journals - Whitefield - XXIII - From a few Days after his Return to Georgia commneced

Required reading
The Journals of George Whitefield (Available from Amazon or free here) - Commence 'From a few Days after his Return to Georgia...' by reading up to the heading 'Newport and Bristol'.

My summary
This week we read of Whitefield's time in:
(i) Ebenezer;
(ii) Savannah;
(iii) Beaufort in Port Royal;
(iv) Charleston;
(v) Ashley Ferry;
(vi) Dorchester;
(vii) John's Island;
(viii) Ponpon;
(ix) Hoospanah Chapel;
(x) Good Hope;
(xi) Beuafort;
(xii) Savannah;
(xiii) Newport.

Whitefield continues his usual preaching tour with some effect.  But his health continues to be a point of concern.

What grabbed me
Whitefield sounds terribly unwell at one point: 'Last night, through weakness of body, just as I began family prayer, I was struck, as I thought, with death.  I put up a few broken accents and breathed out, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit."'

Thankfully Whitefield woke up the next morning.  But he just doesn't seem to know how to look after his health.

Next week's reading
