Works (Vol 4) - Newton - XXXVII - Sermon XXXVII (The extent of Messiah's spiritual kingdom)

Required reading
The Works (Vol 4) of John Newton (Available from Amazon or free here) - Read Sermon XXXVII (The extent of Messiah's spiritual kingdom).

My summary

This week Newton preaches on: 'The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.' (Rev 11:15)

Newton tells us how the prayers and desires of the church shall, in some future period, be signally answered, in the following respects:
(i) that the Gospel shall visit the nations which are at present involved in darkness;
(ii) that this gospel shall prevail, not in word only, but in power;
(iii) that the animosities and disputes which prevail among Christians shall cease;
(iv) that it will be a time of general peace.

What grabbed me
Newton wasn't very clear in this sermon about what he believes the text is teaching.

So sadly I didn't find anything that stood out.

Next week's reading
Read Sermon XXXVIII (King of Kings, and Lord of Lords).
