Ante-Nicene Fathers (Volume 5) - X - Fragments concluded

Required reading
Ante-Nicene Fathers (Vol 5) (Available from Amazon or free here) - Conclude 'Part I Exegetical'.

My summary
This week Hippolytus finishes his comments on Scripture.

He gives us his thoughts on:
(i) Matthew;
(ii) Luke;
(iii) the Pentateuch;
(iv) the Psalms.

(Note that it is generally accepted that some of these fragments were not written by Hippolytus)

What grabbed me
Although there was a lot of strange additions to the word of God this week again, I did appreciate the connection between the ark and Christ: ' And the ark was a symbol of the Christ who was expected. For that ark was the means of the salvation of Noah and his sons, and also of the cattle, the wild beasts, and the birds. And Christ, too, when He suffered on the cross, delivered us from accusations and sins, and washed us in His own blood most pure.'

Amen.

Next week's reading
Commence 'Part II. Dogmatical and historical' by reading the 'Treatise on Christ and Antichrist'.
