Dogmatic Theology Vol 1 - Shedd - XXXVI - Chapter 9 Miracles

Required reading
Dogmatic Theology Vol 1 by William G.T. Shedd (Available from Amazon or free here) - Read Chapter 9 Miracles.

My summary
Today Shedd finishes the first volume of his Dogmatics with a chapter on miracles which he defines as extraordinary acts of God.

He denies that they are unnatural events as they are natural to a personal God.

Thus most of the reading defends miracles in the light of the laws of nature, including Hume's illogical position on miracles.

What grabbed me

Some good quotes today.  Like this one: 'All that physics teaches, is, that there is nothing in nature and natural forces that can work a miracle. This, the theologian is as ready to say as any one.'

And yet, God can work a miracle!

Next week's reading
Commence Dogmatic Theology Vol 2 by starting Chapter 1 'Man's creation' and reading up to the paragraph that reads 'There are three principal supports of Traducianism. 1. Scripture. 2. Systematic Theology. 3. Physiology' (found on page 19 of my edition).
