Ante-Nicene Fathers (Volume 5) - XXXIV - Treatise XII commenced

Required reading
Ante-Nicene Fathers (Vol 5) (Available from Amazon or free here) - Commence Treatise XII by reading up to the 'Third Book'.

My summary
Today we read the first two of three books from Cyprian demonstrating the consistency between the Old and New Testaments.

Regarding the first book, Cyprian says 'I have endeavoured to show that the Jews, according to what had before been foretold, had departed from God, and had lost God's favour, which had been given them in past time, and had been promised them for the future; while the Christians had succeeded to their place, deserving well of the Lord by faith, and coming out of all nations and from the whole world.'

And about the second book, Cyprian says: 'The second book likewise contains the sacrament of Christ, that He has come who was announced according to the Scriptures, and has done and perfected all those things whereby He was foretold as being able to be perceived and known.'

What grabbed me
As most of today's reading was simply quotes from the Bible, nothing from Cyprian himself stood out to me.

Next week's reading
Conclude Treatise XIII.
