Profiting from the word - Pink - IV - Chapter 4

Required reading
Profiting from the Word by A. W. Pink (available from Amazon or free on the internet, here for example) - Read Chapter 4, 'The Scriptures and Prayer'.

My notes and thoughts
Today Pink encourages us to profit from the Scriptures by learning seven things about prayer: (i) it is of deep importance; (ii) we know not how to pray; (iii) we need the Spirit's help for it; (iv) the goal of prayer; (v) how to plead God's promises; (vi) we need to be in complete submission to God; (vii) prayer is a real and deep joy.

Great opening to this chapter: 'A prayerless Christian is a contradiction in terms.  Just as a still-born child is a dead one, so a professing believer who does not pray is devoid of spiritual life.  Prayer is the breath of the new nature in the saint, as the Word of God is its food.'  Prayer should be natural to us, sadly it is often not.

Now it's your turn
