My summary
This week we continue to hear from Gaebelein about the importance of prophecy in the Bible. 

Last week Gaebelein started to give examples of fulfilled prophecy and now he turns to the book of Daniel for more examples. 

Thus we hear about Daniel's predictions of:
(i) Nebuchadnezzar;
(ii) Alexander the Great;
(iii) Antiochus Epiphanes;
(iv) Jesus' death;
(v) the wars of the Ptolemies and Seleucidae.

Then to finish Gaebelein speaks briefly about unfulfilled prophecy.

What grabbed me
I liked the last paragraph about the importance of fulfilled prophecy for unfulfilled prophecy: 'The literal fulfillment of prophecies in the past vouches for the literal fulfillment of every prophecy in the Word of God. Some of them were uttered several thousand years ago. The world still waits for their fulfillment. May we remember that God does not need to be in a hurry. He knows indeed the end from the beginning. He takes His time in accomplishing His eternal purposes. And may we, His people, who know and love His Word, not neglect prophecy, for the Prophetic Word is the lamp which shineth in a dark place.'

If God's prophecies in the past came true, we'd be foolish not to accept his prophecies about the future - particularly the final judgement.

Commence Chapter 7 (Life in the word) by reading up to the heading 'VII. The Bible is a discerner of hearts'.
