My summary
This week we examine Spiritualism with Pollock.

We learn about Modern Spiritualism's:
(i) origin and growth;
(ii) attractions;
(iii) refusal of the Scriptures;
(iv) fulfilment of prophecy;
(v) condemnation by Scripture;
(vi) understanding of Christ;
(vii) denials;
(viii) three black 'I's' (Infidelity, Insanity and Immorality);
(ix) offers;
(x) shirking of awful problems;
(xi) surrender to the name of Christ.

What grabbed me
We should never forget that although Satan and his demons are strong, Christ is stronger: 'We may walk serenely through this evil world, conscious of the Lord's protecting hand, just as Elisha was calm, conscious that he was protected by the mountain being full of horses and chariots of fire. With all the glittering rewards of divination within the reach of the covetous Balaam, if only he would curse God's people, he was obliged to cry out, "Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel" (Num. 23 : 23). '

By God's grace, we can be calm in the face of such powerful opposition.
