My summary
This week we read a short chapter about the revival in Boston.

We basically hear about the spiritual convictions aroused under the preaching of Whitefield and Tennent.

The change that came was so significant that 'the very face of the town seemed to be strangely altered.'

What grabbed me
I was interested to read the response of Tennent people who heard his preaching: 'Mr. Tennent being so exceeding strict in cautioning people from running into churches, taking the sacred covenant, and receiving the Lord's Supper, the seal thereof, until they had saving grace ; that divers, brought to very hopeful dispositions, yea, some, I doubt not, to embrace the Saviour in all his offices, were through fear and darkness kept from coming into full communion.'

Tennent certainly wasn't one to exaggerate the effects of his preaching.
