Twenty-One Sermons on Hebrews 10:20-24 in Volume III of the Works of Robert Traill (Available from Reformation Heritage Books or free here) - Read Sermon XVII.
My summary
This week Traill continues to teach us from Hebrews 10:20 by making further applications.
Firstly Traill exhorts us to consider:
(i) that if Christ be the way to heaven, we may plainly see how fatally and wofully the greatest part of the world are mistaken about the way; and if mistaken about the way, they must miss of the end;
(ii) that Christ as slain is the way to heaven, shall be in exhorting of you to take this way;
(iii) that all excuses are taken off - nothing can justify a man in refusing to betake himself to Christ as the way.
What grabbed me
I enjoyed Traill's encouragement to love Christ: 'Love Christ as the way to heaven, and you shall be in him ; nay, you are in him, when you love him. It is impossible, that a man that loves Christ Jesus, should ever go to hell ; it is impossible, that ever a man can love Christ Jesus but one that is beloved of him.'
If you love Christ, it is a sign of great health.
