Ante-Nicene Fathers (Volume 3) - XXI - Book IV of The five books against Marcion concluded

Required reading
Ante-Nicene Fathers (Volume 3) (Available from Amazon or free here) - Conclude Book IV of 'The five books against Marcion' by reading Chapters 23 to 34.

My summary
This week Tertullian continues to argue against Marcion by showing from the gospel of Luke that Jesus is the Christ of the Creator.

As in previous weeks, Tertullian shows Christ's compatibility with the Old Testament by looking at Christ's:
(i) miracles;
(ii) teachings (including parables).

But this week, as he comes to the end of Luke's gospel, Tertullian spends a considerable amount of time demonstrating the link between Old Testament prophecies and Christ's death and resurrection.

What grabbed me
I enjoyed Tertullian's conclusion to this book: 'And now, as I would venture to believe, we have accomplished our undertaking. We have set forth Jesus Christ as none other than the Christ of the Creator. Our proofs we have drawn from His doctrines, maxims, affections, feelings, miracles, sufferings, and even resurrection—as foretold by the prophets. Even to the last He taught us (the same truth of His mission), when He sent forth His apostles to preach His gospel “among all nations;” for He thus fulfilled the psalm: “Their sound is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world.” Marcion, I pity you; your labour has been in vain. For the Jesus Christ who appears in your Gospel is mine.'

Mine too!
