Required reading
Dogmatic Theology Vol 3 by William G.T. Shedd (Available from Amazon or here) - Continue Theology (Doctrine of God) by reading up to the paragraph commencing 'VOL. I., p. 521. Carpenter (Physiology, 941-948) mentions the following facts in proof of the original unity of the human species...' (page 225 of my edition).
My summary
Today in Shedd's theology chapter we continue learning about God's work of creation.
Most of our reading consists of Shedd quoting authors in refutation of the theory of evolution. But towards the end we also hear about the length of time since creation.
What grabbed me
I found this quote from Shedd interesting: 'The inability of the materialist to ground his theory that mind is matter and that thought, like heat, is a mode of molecular motion in the mathematics that support all genuine mechanics is proof that it will be short lived, that the pseudoevolution of Darwin at the close of the nineteenth century will share the fate of the pseudoevolution of Lamarck at the beginning of it.'
Sadly, Shedd was not right.
Next week's reading
