My summary
Clement begins his second book today of comparing Greek writings with Christianity.

We learn about:
(i) faith and its results;
(ii) Christianity's relationship with Greek history;
(iii) fear and its benefits;
(iv) repentance;
(v) sin;
(vi) God's passions;
(vii) knowledge;
(viii) the Mosaic law;
(ix) Gnosticism;
(x) the chief end of man;
(xi) marriage.

What grabbed me
I enjoyed the section on marriage.

Clement made a good point about the purpose of marriage being to help each other: 'But it is the diseases of the body that principally show marriage to be necessary. For a wife’s care and the assiduity of her constancy appear to exceed the endurance of all other relations and friends, as much as to excel them in sympathy; and most of all, she takes kindly to patient watching. And in truth, according to Scripture, she is a needful help.'

Spouses care for each other like no other.
